Is it worth to buy Redmi Note 10S in 2024?

In 2021, Redmi introduced three phones in its 10 Series – Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10S, and Redmi Note 10 Pro. Among these three Mi phones, the Note 10S became the most popular one in India. It was considered a great value-for-money smartphone because of its solid performance, especially gaming, great battery life, and attractive design.

Now, should you go for this smartphone in 2024? If you are still looking for a 4G smartphone at an affordable price range, you should definitely consider buying Redmi Note 10S in 2023.

This smartphone is available in three different variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM. The price of the phone starts from INR 14,999, which is the price of the 6GB + 64GB variant.

The 6GB + 128GB model is priced at INR 16,999 and the 8GB + 128GB is available for a price of INR 18,999. Now, let us look at the reasons why this smartphone is still worth buying in 2023.

Design and Build Quality:

The Redmi Note 10S is available in four different color options – Cosmic Purple, Deep Sea Blue, Frost White, and Shadow Black. Just like the Redmi Note 10, the 10S also comes with the same Evol design. However, this phone looks more compact than the other phones of the 10 series. Regarding the color options, the Deep Sea Blue color looks fresh and unique.

It gets a gradient finish along with a matte back that makes this phone look classy as well as feel comfortable to hold the phone. Frost White and Shadow Black are two subtle colour options.

The smartphone weighs only 178.8 grams and has a thickness of 8.3mm. This is one of the slimmest Mi phones out there in the market. It is sleek, compact, and easy to use single-handedly. The phone comes with a polycarbonate framework and a plastic back.

The back of the phone is nicely curved along the sides, which makes it easy to hold. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The top and the bottom of the phone are relatively flat as compared to the curved sides.

This phone gets a 6.43-inch screen, with thin bezels on three sides and a comparatively thicker chin. The camera is located at the top center of the screen in the form of a punch hole. At the back of the phone, you will find a rectangular camera module made of plastic in the top left corner.

It accommodates a quad camera setup and a LED flashlight. There is a silver highlight surrounding the bigger 64 MP primary lens. Overall, the back of the phone looks seamless with only the Redmi branding present on the bottom left side.

Unlike most of the phones in this price range, the Redmi Note 10S offers an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. Moreover, there is a small rubber rim surrounding the sim card tray, preventing water to enter the device.

The sim card tray along with the dedicated microSD card slot is on the left side. You will find the volume keys and the power button on the right side of the phone. The power button is also used as the fingerprint scanner. At the bottom of the phone, you will find a type C USB charging port, a speaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. At the top of the phone, there is another speaker and the IR blaster.

Display:

The Redmi Note 10S, just like other Mi phones, has an impressive display quality. It gets a 6.43-inch screen, having a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The Full HD+ Super AMOLED display is ideal for enjoying content on Netflix and YouTube. Though this phone offers a refresh rate of only 60Hz.

The screen is bright and vibrant with a peak brightness of 1100 nits and HDR10+ support. Moreover, it also gets WideVine L1 certification support, which allows the users to watch videos at the best possible quality.

Specifications and Performance:

The Redmi Note 10S is equipped with MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, which is a 12nm octa-core processor, with a clock speed of 2GHz. It gets an ARM Mali G76 GPU. Unlike other Mi phones that have used Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, Redmi has used the MediaTek processor for better gaming experiences.

The phone is great to perform your basic daily activities along with multitasking. You can even use 20 apps simultaneously. The gaming performance is also great, with no frame rate drops in medium settings. The phone runs on MIUI 12.5, which is based on Android 11.

Camera:

The Redmi Note 10S gets a quad camera setup, which includes a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP depth camera. The main camera is good for taking close-up photos or portraits. However, while clicking wide landscape images, the quality deteriorates. The 13MP front camera performs decently.

Battery:

The Redmi Note 10S gets a 5000mAh battery along with a 33W fast charger. The battery will last for more than a day. It takes around 60 minutes to fully charge the phone.
